THIS IS THE MOST COMPLEX IMAGE I'VE EVER CREATED.
...three hours to drive out to joshua tree national park...
...an hour to hash out the details in my head...
...myself, jaclyn, and michael working for an hour to shoot it all on site...
...three hours of work in photoshop to put it all together...
...all TOTALLY WORTH IT.
sometimes ideas just hit. we were driving out to this shoot in the desert with rachel and andy and i was trying to figure out a way to creatively shoot the five looks
superstyling stylist, coordinator, and friend extraordinaire angel swanson had put together for us....then this just hit. i didn't really think it would be nearly this difficult to complete, but i love me a good challenge :) so here is how we did it...
1) setup tripod in middle of desert with a clear 180 degree panoramic to shoot
2) position rachel in the middle of the frame centered on top focus point so i could keep her consistently in the same position in each of the five frames.
3) setup profoto flash head directly behind and above lens
4) measure distance from tripod to rachel to keep light and focus the same each frame when we started rotating...the only thing we had to measure with was a sheet...so ya, we tied a sheet to the tripod and had rachel hold it taught before each shot....super classy.
5) get rachel done up in look one.
6) shoot
7) change look
8) rotate camera on tripod
9) move light to stay inline with lens at same distance
10) reposition rachel with super classy sheet method
11) shoot
12) repeat
13) repeat
14) repeat
15) repeat
16) do the happy dance (while secretly hoping all of it worked)
