HAPPY ACCIDENTS

sometimes your camera just decides not wind the film correctly and delivers some accidental overlapped exposures...these surprises are one of my absolute favorite parts of shooting film.

THE CHANS

these are our dear friends the chans. the past few chapters in their story have been filled with many trials, but they've risen to every challenge and inspired us and countless others every step of the way. i feel so honored to have had the chance to make this portrait of them in the midst of this simultaneously difficult and hopeful stage in their lives.

BACK IN THE DAY / SKATE NATE

just found this print of me at probably 6-ish years old, crushing the high shorts and roller skates at my family's first home in escondido.

THE FIRST FIRE OF THE WINTER

my absolute favorite part of winter here in the mountains is having to heat our home via our wood stove. the ritual of waking up each morning and building a fire and continuously tending to it throughout the day is something i deeply miss once the temperatures begin to rise again. not to mention the new pleasure i've found in felling trees in the forest to gather the wood for heating our home...but more on that in another post. in the early chill of the morning the loinfruits spend their waking hours huddled close the fire, usually playing cards.
