the image is found canada, eh! day twelve...wrap up. 9.28.07
yesterday was our last full day here in lovely vancouver and we took it pretty easy. we shockingly didn't even take any pictures! partly becasue we didn't do anything wild and partially becasue it was raining all day!

we started off the day with an awesome breakfast at one of the coolest restaurants we've been to on our trip, little nest. after a great breakfast and a little shopping for grace at dandelion kids we met up with our favorite crazy canadians, the bebbs for a yummy lunch and lots of good photo talk...thanks guys! after bebb time we headed downtown to brooklyn clothing co so i could get my shop on. this place was like a premium denim heaven...every brand you could think of, in every style, in every size...and the best part is that it was all for men! so i ended up with a new pair of uber-comfy citizens of humanity jeans that i swear are nicer to wear than pajamas :) after that we shopped along robson street a bit, ended with a nice dinner at milestones (again) and headed back to our hotel to catch the office...yay for pam and jim!

so today we have to pack up all our junk and travel back home to lovely san diego. this trip has been an absolute blast for us and we're so sad to be leaving! thank you all so much for following along with us...we really appreciate all of your kind comments, great recommendations, and well wishes! we're cooking up another good trip for the end of october now...

cheers!

the image is found canada, eh! day eleven...vancouvalicious 9.27.07
yesterday we slowly got out the door and out into this beautiful city of vancouver to explore around a bit! we started off with a delicious breakfast at sophie's cosmic cafe. then we headed on over to granville island for a lazy day of wandering around, arcade games, candy, galleries, and park play.

the diva grace on the way out to breakfast :)
i think after eleven days she might be sick of having her picture taken :)
on the way to breakfast grace immediately spotted the candy shop with rows and rows of pez dispensers in the window!
at grenville island grace of course found the only small area with swings and a teeter totter which resulted in a 30 minute detour :)
shooting a child flying in your face with a manual focus tilt shift with the plane of focus all twacked out is hard!!!
grace practicing the luge for the 2010 winter games here in canada :)
after swingtime we headed over to the sensory overload kids only market to check out the endless maze of junk for kids! jaclyn was quite impressive with her magic puppet :)
then it was over to the arcade...
we got a good laugh out of this sign :)
this is my super intense skeeball face...i was in the zone racking up the tickets :)
grace's "holy crap i made one in the hole" face :)
grace's death defying driving on california cruising...it's a good thing she's got a ways to go until 16 :)
164 tickets later and grace had some new bling!
then it was back over to the park where grace found a new friend for the tire swing.

yesterday we spent most of the day packing up all our junk in whistler...hopping on the 99 and fighting construction traffic all the way down to vancouver. by the time we got into our new hotel, the listel in downtown vancouver we were pooped! we grabbed a quick bite to eat, jac and i watched the premier of boston legal and hit the hay. needless to say...not too many pictures of all that action ;) we're heading out for a day of fun in vancouver today so stayed tuned for more pics tomorrow!

the image is found canada, eh! day nine...whistlerrrrrrrr...lazy days 9.25.07
yesterday was a chilly overcast day with scattered shadows here in whistler so we took it slooooooow. we took a quick trip over to the lake so grace could take a horse ride which is always a hit! she got a huge horse named dallas and rode around the field like a pro. while we were waiting for the horse to be prepped we just had to grab a few shots together :)
grace was so excited when she finally spotted her horse coming around the corner :)
awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!
after horsie time we headed back over to the village to play some miniature golf in the rain. we must have been crazy cuz we were the only poeple around!
grace of course had a pink ball :)
this was grace's victory dance move just about every time she made the ball in the hole!
around hole 16 it started really raining which was very exciting for grace :)
after a long round of golf we headed back to our hotel and took advantage of swiming in the heated rooftop pool in the rain...
today we're heading out of whistler down to vancouver where we'll be running around until we finally head back home on friday! we've had such great recommendations from all you lovely canadians on our trip so far...so here we ask again for any adivice on where to eat, what to see, where to go in vancouver...thanks in advance!

the image is found canada, eh! day eight...whistlerrrrrrrr 9.24.07
yesterday we spent the whole day enjoying the beautiful weather here in whistler. this town is just so beautiful...the scenery, the architechture, the people, everything! we started the day off at the whistler brewhouse for a fantastic lunch...i had an amazing chicken pesto sandwich with some of the best fries ever and jaclyn had the richeous heart attack in a bowl mac and cheese.....mmmmmm.
after lunch we headed over to the farmers market and strolled along munching on kettle corn and yummy apples. parents, if you're reading this, we even picked up a little something for ya :) at the end of the farmers market grace saw the little bounce house they had so of course she had to get in and bounce away some of that energy :)
then came a real surprise! right next to the bounce house was one of those super bounce trampoline harness of death things...well to our surprise after noticing it by another girl's screams grace asked to go on it!!! if i didn't have to change her diaper as a little baby i'd swear she had balls of steel! she hopped right on and launched as high as it would go...yay for super grace!!!
after the famer's market we headed over to this cool little park in downtown where grace also jumped right on the highest pole and slid down all by herself!
after park time we drove over to lost lake to soak in some prettyness at sunset while grace threw rocks in the lake. we of course had to do a myspace shot of jac and i...notice my magical one armed camera holding skill in my eyeglass reflection :)
we realized we haven't really shown a pic of jac in all her prego glory yet so i grabbed a couple in the gorgeous late afternoon mountain light :)
and of course, one of the gracinator rocking her uber-cute sweater :)
whistler purtyness.
after lake time we had an AWESOME dinner at elements tapas parlour. a big thanks to stace for the recommendation! a perfect way to end a great day!

the image is found canada, eh! day seven...bucking bulls, lots of pavement, and tic tac toe 9.23.07
yesterday we left the lovely kamloops and hit the road for the last long leg of our journey to whistler. the drive through this part of BC was absolutely stunning! about an hour into our drive we spotted a sign on the side of the road for a rodeo...one death defying highway u-turn later and we pulled onto a muddy road and into a whole other world :) here's the welcome sign...always comforting :)
i quickly came to realize that a 5d + 200L was nowhere near enough camera to really capture what was going on at the rodeo but here are a few lucky grabs. the action at the rodeo was awesome!
grace's reaction to all the action :)
about a half an hour into our stay a gnarly storm cloud dumped buckets on everyone and put a very wet end to our rodeo experience...
random cloud prettyness along the drive...
we spotted this old couple on the side of the road chillin in their fold up chairs...which resulted in another mid highway u-turn for a quick shot :)
this is pretty much what the highway looked like for about three hours of our dive...just stunning!
when we finally arrived in whistler we checked into the AWESOME adara hotel in downtown. after checkin and a few hoots and wahoos about out two level room with balcony we headed out to dinner at milestones. we'd like to give a special thanks to blog reader laureen for recommending milestones and thier awesome curly fries with watercress sauce...it was delicious!
grace was really excited about her milk :)
grace and i had a tic tac toe tournament while waiting for our meals...here is grace's victory dance :)
and my winner celebration!
* * * we will be here in whistler for three days...do any of you locals or other travelers have any recommendations for where to go, what to do, where to eat, etc??? any help would be much appreciated!!!

the image is found canada, eh! day six...freezing our butts off above banff...on the road to kamloops 9.22.07
yesterday we had to say goodbye to the beautiful banff and hit the road over to the not so beautiful kamloops :( before we headed out we had to stop and take the gondola up to the top of sulpher mountain to get a bird's eye view of banff. little did we know we'd be greeted by howling winds and freezing temperatures! we weren't quite dressed for the frigid weather so we only spent a few minutes up on top...but man was it gorgeous getting a full panoramic view of this jaw dropping area. i didn't shoot very much cuz i couldn't feel my fingers for most of the time but here's a few...

grace and jac waiting in line...
grace was so excited to be so high in the air! the gondola travels up over 5000 vertical feet in just under eight minutes bringing you to the top of the mountain at just under 8000 feet!
brrrrrrrrrr! i think my nipples could have cut through the glass this sticker was on!
a quick snap overlooking banff...banff is that little area to the left of the mountain in the middle to give you an idea of just how small you feel there :)
gotta have one of these!
go canada!!!
a snap of the mountains on the way down...
of course grace had to take a pic of mommy and papa :)
after the gondola we had to hit the road and tackle our six hour drive to kamloops. for those of you canadians wondering why the heck we would go to kamloops...it is just a stop over on our way to whistler :) anyway, i think the drive was pretty....but we couldn't see much cuz it was pouring the entire drive!!! i've never seen so much water in my life!!! a ways into the drive we stopped off at emerald lake for lunch at the lodge...here's the kaiser fam chillin...

jac's too sexy for her jacket...too sexy for her jacket...
grace made me wear her pink beanie which was a big hit :)
and grace made a "happy face" out of butter on her bread :) **random side rant** why the heck can't restaurants serve room temperature butter that you can actually spread on the bread!?!?!? they pull this crap out of the freezer and drop in on the table...arg.
as we ran through the rain back to the car i just had to grab a couple shots of the gorgeous emerald lake!
next post will be from whistler...wahoo!!!

the image is found canada, eh! day five...banfftastic!!! 9.21.07
WOW. i'd like to think we've been to some pretty beautiful places in our lives but i don't think much could hold a stick to the jaw dropping, open up the sunroof and stick your head out, almost drive off the road beauty that is here in banff. yesterday we headed out to explore some of the park and head up to lake louise to see some prettyness...

first up, a stop at a random grove of birch trees...i love brich trees and they are everywhere here!
after a nice relaxing drive along bow valley parkway (that made me long for my audi back home) we arrived at lake louise nestled in the mountains. this place is just absolutely jaw dropping....any pictures we took couldn't even come close to captureing the amazing grand scale of this place.
of course we had to rent a canoe and paddle ocross the lake! this was seriously one of the most awe inspiring, peacful, too cool for words experiences of our lives.
the view from the front of the canoe...looking out on the glacier that was veiled by a storm.
the captain :)
after an hour or so on the lake grace started zoning out :)
happy us :)
these next five shots were all taken by the grace! she's even getting really good at directing us..."like....ummmmm....make a funny face...."
after we left lake louise we headed back down bow valley parkway and stopped off at johnson canyon for a hike up to see a waterfall. the frist thing we saw on the trail was a sign for the little store we thought was pretty funny :)
after a long one mile uphill pushing grace in her stroller this is the view we were rewarded with!
ok...so the bow valley parkway we kept driving on was the alternative to the main highway. it was slow and wonding and also claimed to be so slow because there was so much wildlife all over the place...well after driving the hour and a half to lake louise, and about an hour and 25 minutes back we had come up short :( i think the most we say were a few ravens and grace was so bummed! then at the last minute on our way home we spotted a full size male elk grazing on the side of the road!!! needless to say we all freaked out and skidded to the side of the road where jac and i instantly converted to national geo photographers...jac leaning out the window, myself popped through the sunroof, then out running and diving in the field....it was a total rush! this elk was huge and had a gorgeous rack! grace was so excited she couldn't stop yelling and bouncing out of her carseat :)
another random shot of banff prettyness :)
when we made it back into town we headed out for an AWESOME dinner at the bison bistro...check out the spread!
we're so sad to be heading out of banff today, we could have spent way more time here but the road is calling!
