so life finally uncrazyfied itself for a few minutes last night and jaclyn and i were talking about possible shootshop dates! due to our lovely little kaiser baby v2.0 on the way we have a three to five month block of time we can't schedule shootshops. sooooooooooo...since there has been a lot of demand for one right away, we were looking at the first week in december...wednesday, december 5th to be exact. now we know that is really short notice and right in the middle of some people's holiday rush so we wanted to get a general feeling if anyone would even be interested in coming. please take a sec to respond to this handy dandy poll below and let us know :) if it looks like there are at least some people remotely interested, we'll announce exact details sooooooooooon!

on sunday we headed up to lakewood to spend the evening at jaclyn's sister's church halloween carnival. grace dressed up as a ballerina (what else?!!?!?) so as to not ruin the surprise of her top secret "real" halloween costume :) we spent the evening watching grace rack up plenty of candy playing games, enjoying yummy bbq, and hanging with the fam. tonight we'll be out for the real trick or treating which should be insane fun :) grace of course ran immediately to the pony ride :)

i've never really seen this before...bobbing for apples on a string. it's actually pure genius...you see, when you normally bob for apples in a bucket no one can really see you look like a total idiot thrashing and chomping for the apples. i like this way much better :)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!!!

we just finished up an awesome week hosting jesh de rox at our studio for his life as an artform workshop. even though i was there as a guest speaker, i was also lucky enough to be able to attend all three days as well. i've got so say...these past three days have been so moving it's nearly impossible to put into words. our small group of ten attendees was such a beautiful group of people i feel so blessed to have met. we laughed, we cried, we had a surprising number of hilariously funny crude jokes, and lots of made up words to help put into words abstract things that only the heart can say. we are so proud to call jesh a friend...he is a beautiful man and we are so blessed to have shared a small piece of his journey. to top it all off, today is jesh's birthday...HAPPY BIRTHDAY! our dear friends michael and nellie came out on wednesday to be our fantastic models! here is my favorite image from my quick session with them. the beautiful connection they share was so inspiring to all of us, thanks guys!

oh, and please don't the whole week was full of philosophy and meditation...we had a blast! case in point...see the lovely animation of jesh "connecting" it up with michael and nellie :)

we just wanted to say a quick thank you to the dozens of emails and comments we've received checking on us to make sure we were ok in the midst of these terrible fires we're having here in san diego county. praise God, we're very fortunate to be in an area that has been "in the eye of the storm." besides lots of raining ash, high winds, a persistent reeking of smoke, and red skies we're all good. we've been keeping an eye on the news and this disaster is just unfathomable in scope...300,000 acres burned, 1000+ homes burned, over 300,000 people evacuated...that's over one eighth the population of the entire san diego county!!! our prayers for peace, consolation, and safety go out to all of our neighbors affected by these fires.

i had a radtastic engagement session with kris and rudy a couple weeks ago. they are truly awesome couple and had such a tender love between them that was so great to be around! to top it all off, they brought their new pug puppy that i almost had to steal it was so cute! unfortunately we won't be shooting this lovely couple's wedding, they'll be getting hitched at an intimate ceremony in hawaii next month...congratulations guys!

august 26th . 2007 . the lindley-scott house i'm not quite sure how to put into words just how moving this wedding was for me. erica has been my best friend since i was twelve years old, we first met in sixth grade! besides my family, she is the one person i have known the longest...over half my life! erica is an amazingly beautiful person both inside and out and her warmness, joy, and compassion just radiates to all those around her. i am so happy that she found such an amazing man in her new husband matt...he is an awesome individual who complements her perfectly. the connection they share and the love between them is so inspiring to be around. we feel truly blessed to have been able to be a part of their wedding day. there were so many great images i could have blogged a hundred from this wedding, but since this post is already a long time coming, heres our mostest favoritist ;)...erica is an english major so i am purposely using bad grammar to piss her off :) i just love this emotional shot jaclyn captured of erica getting ready...

* * * JOWLING-FEST 2007 * * * * * * PROCEED WITH CAUTION * * * YOU MAY NEVER LOOK AT NATE AND JACLYN THE SAME AGAIN... i've been debating whether or not to post these for a while now...but at long last i believe we're shameless enough to give you all a little giggle :) while we were having a wonderful time up at the cabin in big bear a couple weeks ago we had what could possibly be the most funtastical late night escapade EVER! justin turned us on to a little known sport called jowling...basically it involves loosening all of your facial muscles, then (shame be damned) shaking the living crap out of your head. well in person, it's pretty funny to watch...but better yet is freezing those amazingly unflattering moments in time forever :) with three photographer couples, bags and bags of gear laying around, and the past midnight loopyness we embarked on a fun little photo project that involved a very elaborate three flash setup, lots of drool flying, and a whole heap of laughs i will never forget :) enjoy...but don't say you weren't warned!

i shot sean and lisa's engagement session a few weeks ago and they are totally rocktastic! their wedding is in a couple weeks and we can't wait to spend a whole day with such awesome people! here's a few of my favs from our shoot around the studio...

we're finally getting our studio together and getting moving on something we have been looking forward to for a very long time...HUGEALICIOUS canvas prints for the walls! * the first one will be 36x52 inches, the second and third will be 40x60 inches each and mounted together, the fourth will be 20x70 inches...ooooooooo we can't wait to see!!! they should all be here and mounted on the walls in the next couple weeks so we'll be sure to post some pics :)
