being a parent and a photographer is weird. we have this awesome gift to document life so when our family life is happening all around us, we try to always be shooting it. we truly feel that while our work for clients a HUGE part of our lives and something we're deeply passionate about, documenting our family is the most important work we can do. for many of you that have been following this blog for a while you've seen our dear grace grow up, jasper be born, our travels, and lots of things inbetween. while we love posting personal images on this blog (and will continue to do so), the quantity of personal images that we're creating now would totally overtake this blog...

sooooooooooo we've come up with a solution for our gazillion personal images...announcing our brand spankin new PERSONAL BLOG!!!

stop on by and take a peek around :) we've filled it up with all of the important images we've taken since the beginning of the year. lots of film pics, videos, random stuff, pics from back in the day, tons of pics of the kiddos, trips, etc. we've also made it a goal to shoot pretty much all of our personal life on film, so you'll find plenty of film luvin on there too! if you're into it, you can add it to your RSS reader too :) ENJOY!

!!!VEGAS BABY!!! if you're planning on heading out to the WPPI convention and tradeshow in las vegas this year, start your week off right by exploding your brain with us!

come join us for an intimate, one-day INTENSIVE workshop focussing on standing out in your market through personal branding and unique imagery. we will be discussing the steps we've taken for our business to carve out a specific niche in the most competitive wedding market in the world. we will be spending the first part of the day focussing on branding, finding inspiration, finding YOUR clients, and managing those client's expectations. after lunch we will be heading out on the town for a shoot showing how we make our unique, creative portraits in any environment. we will demonstrate shooting in a wide variety of everyday situations and give practical, specific techniques about how to walk away with stellar images every time. from great light to "so-so" light to "what light?!?!” to “MY light!” we will teach our unique, award winning style of portraiture using a real couple in real world locations! we will be teaching our distinct style of casual posing, un-posing, thinking creatively, utilizing natural (harsh and soft) and artificial light of all shapes and sizes. after the shoot we'll lay ourselves bare and show all the images from the shoot then reveal all of our mild to wild post-processing techniques in photoshop. so bring your thinking caps and notepads cuz it’s going to be a brain busting busy day!

the shootshop will take place on SATURDAY MARCH 6TH , 2010 from 9-7-ish followed by a wrap up dinner and no holds barred question and answer time. we love to chat with photographers and answer as many specific questions as possible so we've scheduled plenty of time to eat and mingle with our intimate group :)

the shootshop will take place in and around the glitztastic MANDALAY BAY HOTEL AND CASINO right on the world famous las vegas strip.

we believe strongly in the importance of providing personal attention to all our workshop attendees so we will only be allowing a MAXIMUM OF TWENTY people to attend...so if you’re interested, get on it asap!

the shootshop fee is $800USD per person. we will be providing breakfast, lunch, and the wrap up dinner...so the yummies in your tummies are all covered!

the shootshop will take place at MANDALAY BAY HOTEL AND CASINO on the las vegas strip. if you're coming from out of town, you'll want to fly into las vegas international airport and arrange your own transportation and lodging. the mandalay bay hotel is a quick and easy cab ride from any other hotels on the strip. as soon as we receive your registration we will be sending out more detailed info about the location, times, etc.

* The shootshop was better than what I thought it would be. To be honest, making such a large investment for a one-day seminar is scary because I’m never sure if it’ll be worth it. Trying to sum up my experience with adjectives and metaphors won’t do it justice. Beyond all else, Nate and Jaclyn were 100% real. They didn’t hide behind smoke and mirrors, answered every question with extra detail, and kept things fun. They’re an amazing team, but they remain humble via honesty, humor, and self-deprecation…all the things that makes my heart feel all warm-n-fuzzy.

If you have an opportunity to attend this workshop, DO IT! Even if it means having a yard sale, selling an organ, or naming your first child Natelyn to fund the experience, DO IT! You’ll be inspired and rejuvenated a thousand times over.

after many many many hours of work designing, redesigning, writing, and searching through hundreds of thousands of our images from the past few years, we are finally ready to unveil our new website!!!

our last website has served us well since it launched and redefined our brand back in 2005. four years later it was definitely time for an update! this new site is more of an evolution of our brand than a revolution...we loved what we created four years ago, it was just time for a little injection of awesome-sauce :) we wanted the site to have a definite personality but still wanted it to be very clean and image focussed. we are super proud of the "info" sections, we dropped plenty of kaiserisms in there to keep it fresh and fun for the readers :) we're also so stoked to have a house for so much of our new work!!! as many of you know, sometimes we fall a "bit" behind on blogging, so there were so many images that we never got to share! we are also super duper excited to finally have our awesome associate photographer michael chan on our main site!!! michael has been shooting for us for the past six months and we are so excited to have him as part of our team :)

we custom designed the whole site and every single piece all the way down to the buttons, custom font, and the juke box :) it was definitely a labor of love over the past year but now that it is finished, we couldn't be happier!!! we need to throw a HUGE shout out to our wonderful, make anything happen, uber talented friends over at BLUDOMAIN for so perfectly taking our vision and making it come to life. an extra special thanks to zahari, bludomain's genius flash programmer, who worked tirelessly on creating so many of the unique features on our new site. MAJOR HIGH FIVES TO YOU GUYS!!!

soooooo...we have a private shootshop scheduled for this monday (the 29th) and we need an awesome couple that is madly in love to model for us! if you've been waiting for the chance to strut your stuff, here it is! we would need you at our studio in oceanside from 1:00ish-4:00ish on monday the 29th. we'll waive our standard $500 session fee for the shoot and present your images to you online when they're all finished!
